In 2011, Kitchen Ventilation Systems Ltd were approached by Deliverance to support their application to install a full commercial kitchen within the railway arches of Milkwood Road, Herne Hill. Strict compliance to DEFRA Guidance on the control of odours and noise from Commercial Kitchen Exhaust Systems was required. In order to achieve this, we worked closely with Sound Advice Acoustics Ltd and designed a suitable odour control system to suit.
After undertaking necessary risk assessments, KVS decided on the implementation of a 4 stage odour reduction system. Primary filtration was provided by baffle filters and disposable pleated panel filters. Odour and particle/smoke filtration was achieved by means of an Electrostatic Precipitator and UV Lighting System. To reduce noise levels, an atmosphere side silencer was installed and the fan selected was an inherently quieter acoustic multi-box centrifugal fan.
To bring all the plant together, KVS provided a bespoke controls panel to provide inverter speed control for the extract fan, electronic control for the gas interlocking and interlocked supplies to the ESP and UV components. This particular project required a 15m canopy to be installed in a railway arch and included stainless steel wall cladding and services spine/buffer bar.
The installation was completed in early 2012 and KVS continues to provide quarterly preventative maintenance to this site.
