KVS has completed many school kitchen ventilation systems. Henry Cavendish School in South London built a new kitchen extension in 2011/2012 and KVS were employed to provide the kitchen ventilation. The scheme included a large island canopy with supply/extract air. Additionally, the works included the supply and installation of a multi-compartment stainless steel services distribution unit.
The extract plant comprised a multi-box fan. The supply air system included an air handling unit with intake cowl, pre-filtration, belt driven centrifugal fan and LPHW coil. KVS also specified and supplied a site bespoke controls panel to control the plant and gas interlocking. Working to a tight timescale and difficult weather conditions (snow and heavy rain), the works were still completed on time and to budget. The staff benefit from tempered make-up air during winter and extract/supply rates are compliant to B&ES DW/172 to provide comfortable working conditions in the warmer months.
Whilst many kitchen ventilation contractors limit themselves to ‘off the shelf’ solutions, KVS has the knowledge and experience to provide a more bespoke client solution usually at no more cost than an ‘off the shelf’ arrangement.
